Makayla Brie Asia Innes

So I am a little outnumbered now.... But its ok ;)

Chelsey gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on Wednesday, March 23 at 8:09 in the morning.
We named her Makayla Brie Asia Innes.

She weighed in at 6lbs and 12 ounces, and 20.25 inches long. She looks so tiny! I've forgotten how small newborns look.
So here is the story from my end, Chelsey might have more to add.
About 3:30 in the morning, Chelsey wakes me up, saying "Mike, I called my mom, and we need to go to the hospital". At 3:30 in the morning it took me a few minutes for that to sink in ;), but once it did, I jumped right up! I quickly got dressed and a few last things ready to go - mostly put things in the car. Chelsey had been up all night already, so she had gotten Jada's things packed, and a few last things for her hospital bag. Chelsey's mom came shortly after to watch Jada for us, and we went to the hospital. The nurses checked Chelsey out, and she was at 4 or 5 cm, so we stayed in the hospital. A few hours later, about 7am, the doctor came in and Chelsey was only to a 6. They decided to break her water, (about 7:30) to help it go a little faster. This was the only intervention that was done, other then that, Chelsey had a completely natural birth. She had great nurses who supported her and helped her through the contractions and pain. Unlike with Jada's Birth where it was a little more stressful, and we didn't really have good support from the nurses, and there was a language barrier on top of that. Compared to Jada's birth story, this one was pretty relaxed! Dr. Khan, her doctor this time, was very gentle and gave very helpful instructions during pushing, how hard or soft or long or short to push to get the baby out as gently as possible with out using any forceful methods. Chelsey did not need any stiches which is making her recovery a little easier.
Both Mom and baby were healthy, and happy. They spent a little over a day in the hospital after Makayla was born, and they came home around noon on Thursday. Jada is a good big sister and loves staring at her sister. She is adjusting ok, some challenges of course, but it will all work out. Mostly I just think she missed her mom but grandma has been a big help with that.
We don't know right now if we are going to have another later or not. At the moment, Chelsey does not want to go through all that again. We'll see what happens in the future. I would still like to have a son, but if not, I'm ok with that as well.
Chelsey is working on recovery. It is day 4 after birth and the afterbirth contractions are starting to become alot less intense. She is happy and doing well although a little weepy from all the hormones. All and all things are starting to settle in.
We are blessed that Makayla is a really calm baby. She is already quite alert, staying awake for periods of an hour at a time here and there just looking around.

So now we are a family of four, and life is good!
